1. Introduction to Cairo: A City of Cultural Riches
Cairo, the capital of Egypt, is one of the world's largest cities and is an area that has become an important focus of archaeological inventory and study. As the "gateway to the pyramids," it is a chaotic, bustling city with a river as important as the Nile plowing through both the entire country of Egypt itself as well as through the capital city of Cairo. From the desert of Cairo to the bounty of the River Nile leaving its vast waterways and very fertile soil, and thus offering the opportunity to develop agriculture by harnessing the water, all of Egyptian civilization is entirely dependent on the Nile. As a tourist, you need to leave the inconvenience of getting to know the pyramids to visit the bustling streets and meet the locals in the ever-crowded Cairo. The Nile River flows through the capital city of Cairo with its rich history which is home to one of the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the World - The Great Pyramid of Giza.

2. Planning Your Trip: Logistics and Considerations
Before embarking, consider the local culture and familiarize yourself with the traditions in that country. In most Islamic countries, only women are allowed into mosques with long and wide clothing that completely cover the body from the ankles or wrists to the neck, and certainly the head with a scarf. Avoid revealing clothing, such as shorts and tank tops, especially in tourist areas, as it is seen as a lack of respect. Clothing may not represent any problems for men as any type of clothing is okay with the exception of shorts, which are primarily worn by tourists. Keep this in mind especially when planning your visit to the Islamic area that contains mosques. Know also that the consumption of alcohol in the streets of Islamic countries is not permitted, and frequent drinking and subsequent drunkenness is perceived as a lack of respect for the locals.
Once you are ready to depart and sample the wonders that await you in Cairo, you will already be caught up in myriad concerns surrounding your trip. The basics of planning and compromise can make your trip infinitely more enjoyable and meaningful. It is necessary to address issues involving accommodation, local culture, health conditions, and especially entry conditions for your country. In this way, you will avoid unnecessary conflicts and generate good feelings between two (or more) different peoples.

3. Must-Visit Cultural Sites in Cairo
Saqqara: the necropolis of Saqqara is another must-see when visiting Cairo. The Stepped Pyramid there (the first stone building in the world). Other interesting monuments are the covered Titi pyramid, the stunning burial mastaba tombs of nobles, and the pyramids there.
The pyramids: how many places are there in the world which possess the last wonder of the ancient world? The Giza pyramids are something that must be seen once in life. Together with the Sphinx and the valley temples, the incredible pyramids of Giza are just another reason to visit Cairo.
Coptic Cairo (the Christian part of Old Cairo): it has a lot of significant Christian churches like the Hanging Church, the Greek Church of St George, and the Greek Orthodox Church of St Sergio. This part of Cairo also has a few old mosques and other sights. You also cannot miss the opportunity to visit the famous Cairo tower and see a panoramic view of the complete city.
Islamic Cairo: do not miss the chance to enter its famous mosques like the Mosque of Ibn Tulun, Al Azhar Mosque, and Mosque of Sultan Assan. Islamic Cairo has a lot of fabulous monuments like the Manial Palace and Muhammad Ali Pasha Citadel.
Cairo is considered a landmine when it comes to history. This glorious capital of Egypt has an irresistible mix of modern life and ancient ruins. I believe that tourists should not underestimate Cairo by its crowd, traffic, delirious air, and noise since this place holds a wealth of cultural heritage. Besides the pyramids, there are a lot of ancient sites to explore such as the necropolis, the many museums, and the wonderful architectural forms found in many of the buildings there. The following spots are some of the magnificent cultural sites located in Cairo that you must visit.
4. Immersive Experiences: Engaging with Local Culture
In confronting the issues of place, both culturally and physically, and time, occasioned as an always present but mentally discounting the fact of people being there, this understanding of the touristic comes to the realization that it cannot be simply a business. Fundamentally, the touristic is not about being or having but about doing, about shared experiences and frequently a sense of togetherness, however temporary, on excursions from routine into what is strange and unusual. It has fundamental concerns across about who we are, who our hosts are, and how we should behave towards (indeed with) them, questions which have broader implications and consequences for what is now seen in religious, ethical, and even international relations contexts. The recreational and hedonic nature of tourists' activity is often surpassed by experiences of cultural, social, intellectual or spiritual nature.
Words and phrases such as heritage, culture, community, people's art, folklore, and ways of life are used, often interchangeably, to represent what are culturally distinctive tourist attra*ctions and experiences. Yet very little is examined, practically or intellectually, about the place and meaning of heritage, of culturalizing traveler and travel experience, and even resident experience, if the local is present, in the design and marketing writing about what then happens to people and places and to relations from tourist being in such places and relating with their hosts, both in more directly touristic and more generally cultural contexts. Most philosophical and design research concentrates on a consideration of the inanimate.
5. Preserving the Past: Conservation Efforts in Cairo
The first group of such organizations is international in nature and has projects worldwide. Membership and donations, for a large part, come from the industrialized countries. Several of these organizations have conservation projects in Egypt. The Dutch, French, British, and Canadian organizations have done quite a bit in Cairo. One of the two best-known specialized societies is the World Monuments Fund. It is best known for its work on the pool and immediate surroundings at the temple of Dendur (now in the United States) in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Another example is the Aga Khan Trust for Culture, which operates in Asia and Africa and whose biggest Cairo project is at the al-Hakim mosque in al-Mu'izz Street. It functions as a sort of UNESCO and concentrates on emergencies and small projects.
Throughout this guide, it has been pointed out that tourism (in various forms) is an essential activity that generates funds for the preservation of cultural and natural heritage. The presence of extensive heritage in Cairo is supported to a large extent by the Egyptian Antiquities Organization and the Supreme Council of Antiquities. In this section, we discuss some conservation organizations and projects that attempt to preserve or enhance the condition of the existing heritage in Cairo.
